Non-narcotic pain management is the standard of care in chronic pain, and for patients with histories of substance use disorder. The Centers for Disease Control issued guidance on the use of opiates/narcotics for chronic pain.  The finding: with the long term use of opiate pain medicines [Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Oxycodone (OxyContin), Oxymorphone (Opana), Methadone, Buprenorphine (Suboxone), Fentanyl, Tramadol] the risks outweigh the reward. In other words, opiates make paint WORSE long term (this is called hyperalgesia).  https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/65/rr/rr6501e1.htm

At New Resources Medical Arts we treat hyperalgesia caused by narcotic/opiate pain relievers. We use cutting edge non-narcotic medications and other medical interventions to relief pain.  Whenever possible we work to elevate the underlying cause of pain.  The goal is to return the patient to a high level of functioning with a high quality of life.
